beautiful bird
Another test post. (lol)
I found this black bird at the airport when it was time for my daughter to go back. We must have seen a million, no, I'm being silly, it was about a trillion or at least a hundred gazillion of them while she was here. I only got pictures of about 20 or maybe 50. I might be wrong about that too, there were a lot of them in flocks. Heh. Did I ever mention that I love black birds?
Okay. Enough words for a test post.
I'm off to visit all the blogs I've missed so badly.
Then I will get around to posting what (I hope) will be a very short, non-depressing post about my diagnosis. Bleh. Even that sentence was mildly depressing. Ah, look at the pretty birdy! I swear, that bird almost seemed to be posing for me. He was definitely not camera shy. When the light hits these birds a certain way their feathers look irredescant blue/black-gorgeous.
Hugs and smooches!

Woot! It worked. This was posted through Picassa, the one I posted last night was through blogger. Neat. I'm figuring stuff out. I wasn't sure I would be able to do that again.
Way to go (I still haven't figured out how to post a picture via picasa), gorgeous picture!
YAY!!! Oliviah!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy to see you posting, and oh, what posting you are doing!!!!!!!! You must rememeber that birds - ESPECIALLY black ones are near and dear to my heart. Lovely, wonderful, and so exciting to see you in print once again! thank you for your post, and congrats on your wonderful comeback! (how's the lava fetish going ? :) xoxo ps: that is some camera you have! I'm loving it.
Autumn, I hope I remember how I did it! But I couldn't figure out how to post my comment through Picasa, so I gave up and just signed anonymously, lol!
Terry! Funny how people think black birds are a bad omen. They cheer me right up. I was struggling to hold back tears--airport goodbyes with my daughter wrench my heart big-time--and then there was Mr. Gorgeous in all his splendor. That was a nice little bit of happy. Good timing O Black Bird. :-)
Lava, lava...ooo! Watched a special on Hawaii so I got to see a lot of lava. Just amazing stuff. Still can't believe I have TWO pieces of it sitting here on my desk. :-) You rock!
Happy New Year, Oliviah! Welcome back!
Oliviah, this is one gorgeous photograph. You captured him in a perfect pose.
It is so good to have you back. Sending a big hug out to you.
Thanks Wontar and Deb. I especially liked that bird because he had perfect timing, showing up right when my daughter was leaving. An unexpected treat--my favorite bird.
I, for one among many, am happy to see you back. You mentioned waterfalls after your post way back last summer and shortly afterward I caught a news report at the edge of where announcing that a girl had fallen off (and been killed) a waterfall in Pennsylvania somewhere.
I know, I know . . . what are the odds. But when you didn't come blogging for so long, what was I to believe; I'm suggestible anyway.
Glad to hear from you and may a good year ahead be yours--we are all here for you.
goatman, I am so sorry...I was very ill. I got very sick after the trip that I said I hoped to visit waterfalls in. (A relapse actually, apparently.) But I haven't been able to blog until now because it affects my comprehension levels so severely plus for the most part, I couldn't get out of bed. I used my room mates laptop sometimes to use StumbleUpon but that was the only thing I could do.
But I am so sorry that you worried. At the same time, I am touched that you remember me. I only found out today that it has been six months since I blogged. That's a long time in blog land.
I did write a comment today on my July post this afternoon. It might explain things better than I am now. I can't remember what it says now, lol.
I do plan to write a brief post soon, explaining my diagnosis. To avoid confusing people or causing offense. Thank you for caring, that meant so much to me. xox
O
Lovely photo :) That bird looks rather cheerful.
Yes, and he makes me feel pretty cheerful. :-)
Oh my gosh, you are back!!! I'm soooo happy! I've quit blogging for a while, but am still going to be reading.
You have made my day & I'm now wearing a HUGE smile. (and clothes)
:D
Jane!! Oh am I glad to see you, figuratively speaking--glad to see you've got a huge smile (and your clothes on!) I visited what I thought was your blog today, (it is the link I have to it on mine) but it was a site for medication. I hope you are doing well. Email me if you feel like it and let me know how things are going. Here's a big hug for you!
Dearheart, I sent you some concerned e-mails and I am delighted to read you around, knew by yourself about your problems and I can't feel more grateful for finding you again at your blog and knowing some from you.
I receive from you more that I've given you, so I thank your picture and the memories it brings.
Hugs, C.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to be free

OH OLIVIA!!! I am so glad you are ok and back!! I was beginning to wonder if you would ever blog again! I do hope you are feeling better, and that your trip was the most awesome ever. Soo good to "hear your voice!" :)
runnerfrog, I've been humming that song all morning. Thank you, I love it and thank you for all of your kindness.
kshippychic, in a way, it seems like nothing but a blur of doctors & doctors between my trip to see my daughter (my last post) and her trip to visit me, (which brings me to this post). But I am so stubborn, even my most miserable, I brought the camera and took pictures of whatever I could of life outside of these walls and something about taking those pictures helped me a lot. I guess just looking at life is good for life, if that makes sense. I enjoy it anyway. Glad you came by. :-)
Pretty cool picture.
Happy New Years!
Take Care
Michael
Welcome back! Happy new year!
I think what you have there is a grackle - but I could be mistaken. What a perfect shot!! You have such a way with the camera. Hugs !
Thank you Michael, :-)
A grackle! I've been wondering...that very slender beak and it was one of the smaller corvids. The angle of that shot and the way he was sitting makes him look like a juvenile bird plus even smaller than he actually is but he wasn't much bigger than a blue jay. Delicate looking, not blunt. Thanks Terry! :-)
You know what? I've been wanting to replace my profile image with something less boring--I think I've finally found one that I really actually like: this bird. :D
I wonder if it will work/show clearly in these little avatar boxes (or whatever they're called).
Dear Oliviah. I am so glad to see you back and so sorry to hear of your illness. I hope the new year finds you much better. Your lovely images and beautiful nature are sincerly missed.
Please drop by when you can and I'll do the same.
Great big warm hugs to you!

an artist over in Little Rock here Dominique Simmons always uses crows in her work. I always loved that she did that...IT is one of her motifs...
I used to go to the art center to take lessons over there.... THen I was able to purchase two small drawings by her in conte crayon here by her....Anyway I Always loved black birds...ever since i was a child...I think partly because they upset my mother so when they'd come in droves, drive her batty at her closeline LOL (me Hot Springs Joey)
Yay,another black bird lover. I found a better picture of this little guy but I will post him later if I remember. I want to make him my avatar thingy if I can figure out how
